What a great speech!

Ed Miliband delivered an hours speech without referring to any notes, his confidence has grown and he looked like someone who could really run this country from the front. His speech flowed off his tongue like no other MP I have ever known. He seemed really genuine and he puts the likes of Cameron to shame, who refers to notes all the time.
He made reference to Cameron by saying that the coalition government was 'incompetent, hopeless, out-of-touch, U-turning, pledge-breaking, make-it-up-as-you-go-along, back-of-the-envelope, miserable shower', and I think he has got it about right.
It will be interesting what the media says about his speech tomorrow.
Did you listen to it, or are you a right winger who doesn't believe in anything but what their master says,.

Politics aside ,this speech was memorable for Red Ed's powers of recall.
He spoke confidently with no notes or prompts, without hesitation repetition or deviation for a full sixty minutes.
Good show.
Mrs Thatcher would have approved of his brain capacity if not the contents of it.

I'm not very politically minded Arthur but I did catch a bit of his speech on the TV and it was very impressive, he sounded genuine and confident, and if he is then they are good points for good leadership in my view. Maybe there's hope for you all yet.

Gobbing off is not new to politicians, substance is in thin supply lately, let's see, time will tell.

Re: What a great speech!

Well, what do know, the Nu-Labour now want to be old fashioned Labour, Millibrand wants to take us back to the 19th century, they are building their future on Disraeli's future, ' One Nation ', Brown and co nearly took us back to the stone age so I suppose Millibrand is more up to date than he was. Yet again, numerous politicians have used the ' One Nation ' speech when trying to impress others, the latest before Millibrand was Boris after the Olympics. It shows how much Labour have now become poor Tory's.

He says that those who are good at exams, take them and go to college, those who aren't can do apprenticeships pass the exam and become qualified people, sorry, I thought he said those who aren't good at exams!

He also says Labour will sponsor it with £1Bn pounds, and let businesses control it!!!!

When you listen to his speech it sounded just like kids in the school playground calling others names, is this the level that he expects labour voters to stoop to?

I do agree about the NHS though even though he was only repeating what Neil Kinnock said back in 1983.

He says it is up to the next labour government to rebuild Britain like the pass labour pioneers did and leave it a better place than when they found it. What! Blair Brown and co left Britain better than when they came to power, they sent us back to the stone age so now we know what Millibrand wants to do. Send us back to living in caves.

Mind you his speech without notes was impressive for those who have not seen it done before but immitating Camerons speech (Feb 2010 ) without notes only poured praise on Cameron.

Using the past poorer lifestyle of your parents to gain sympathy is beyond words, only desperate and self centered people do that.

No new ideas, No new buzz words, just same old old decrepit Labour

Isn't that what politicians do, stand there and tell lies for a living? Or is that fairy stories...

Re: What a great speech!

I think it should be remembered that speeches given by leaders at party conference are usuallly written by a team of speech writers and have little to do with the person giving the speech . All that person is required to do is to learn the speech off by heart somthing schoolchildren used to be taught to do with the aid of poetry when I went to school.
This achievment is hardly the mark of great inteligence or proof of a good leader more the ability to learn words like a parrot.

Long on rhetoric, very short on content and no hint that he would bring Labour back to the Socialist principles it once stood for. Milliband is just a younger version of Bliar and until the Labour Party takes a very marked step to the 'left', I'll have nothing to do with them!!!

This is the second thing that we agree on Joe, have to be careful or the world will end if we agree on another thing.
