Rebuilding Hadrians wall!!!!!

Scots are getting a vote on whether to go independent or stay as part of the UK. Well er, that is not all together true, SOME Scots get to vote, the ones in Scotland and elsewhere apart from those living in England, Wales and Northern Ireland I am lead to believe.
Why can ALL Scots not get to vote Alex?
If you want the young to vote why not get a nod or shake of the head from those in prams, I suspect that you are trying to load the dice.
One school in Scotland did a poll on 16/17 year olds being allowed to vote and Yes, came third, No was the winner.

Come on Alex, be Braveheart face the world not just your little empire. Let all those of voting age in the UK vote on your referendum.

I would think that only people on the electoral register in Scotland on the day of the referendum should be eligible to vote.

Anyone can claim to be Scots or of Scots descent, but if they don't live there then they won't be affected by Scotland's policies one way or another anyway, so why should they be allowed a say?

I agree Plantman. If Someone has Freely Chosen to leave Scotland and settle elsewhere then I feel they should not complain when they don't get a say in Scotland's Future.
One of my Sister's who has lived in England most of her Adult Life is as Scottish as I am But it's right she should not have a Vote.....

I agree with you there Roxy. I'm from Glasgow but live outside London now. Have done for 20 odd years. It never entered my mind that Scots not living in Scotland should get a vote.

Just to rock the boat - I think that all those eligible to vote in the UK should vote on wheher Scotland should become independent or not.

With luck, this could be the end of the United Kingdom per se, and may even bring about the end of the Monarchy too - LONG LIVE THE REPUBLIC!!!

If Scotland became independent, your sister would then become a foreigner
It will never happen, Scotland can't afford not to have us along, you will find yourselves alienated from the UK, even when your currency will be run by the Bank of England.
And how about the EU you would have to apply to me a member, no I can't see it happening, it would be a foolish move.
Look how broke Southern Ireland is, don't forget the oil that you think is yours is running out, then what are you going to do, borrow from the us at huge interest rates.
Personally I think it is a mad brained idea by Alex Salmond and his cronies.

Its not the country Bob, but the political system that runs it. I never was subservient, I never will be subservient and I object most vociferously to the kowtowing to a German family who were nothing more than robber barons far enough back in their ancestry.

I want a TRULY democratic society where I have a RIGHT to vote on who is to be head of state, and a RIGHT of recall from time to time, much like other modern European democracies.
