Re: Britain sends strong message
I think he deserved the six month sentence (he will be out in three months anyway). It was a pre-meditated, dangerous act and according to the article he showed no remorse. He said that something about severe budget cuts in England pushing him over the edge, which seems to me to be a bit of an odd thing to say to rationalise his actions. He himself was a rower and it also sounds to me like he was a bit jealous of other rowers. Maybe the 6 months (3 months with good behaviour) will be just the time he needs to cool his heels and clear his head.Re: Britain sends strong message
6 months seems harsh to me. It was a sporting event and he only held up the event for 20mins. A public nuisance maybe, but to say Oldfield had acted dangerously, disproportionately and had not shown what he was actually protesting against - maybe he should have had a banner!
