Re: 'Britain's Pompeii' - fascinating archaeology

Isn't it great?
I wonder when it will all be extracted and catalogued and replaced and labelled and we'll be able to see it?
Sounds like it's going to be a site that's worth a weekend trip

It must be wonderful to find such a site as this one. Archaeology has to be one of the most exciting professions.

Shame that the site is to be covered again - or it feels like a shame to me

I know the finds will be on display and no doubt there will be sorts of visuals but I still feel I'd like to see what remains of the actual settlement

A viewing day would have been good ,although the safety aspect might have been why they decided to cover it again ., seeing them in a museum is next best thing,

Re: 'Britain's Pompeii' - fascinating archaeology

The site was being discussed on the radio the other day I has clearly added to our knowledge of the people and the time in which they lived.
The artefacts include a collection of everyday domestic objects unprecedented from any site in Britain, including jewellery, spears, daggers, giant food storage jars and delicate drinking cups, glass beads, textiles and a copper spindle with thread still wound around it.
The people from the site sound quite sophisticated and well provided for...

Each to his or her own of course, but ....
wifey is right into this sort of stuff, which interests me not in the slightest.

Couldn't care less about what happened that long ago.
