Hi

If Trump can reduce tensions with Putin, then I will be a happy Womble.

It is to be hoped that Boris stops being so hawkish towards Putin as well.

Have to admit, that although it grieves a little, I have to agree 100% with your 'prophecy' (do you like that word ?)

What a mess he is about to make of things.. he'll deffo be out, fair means or foul.

I can't see this happening Swim. He's (Trump) making jibes at the Germans and the Chinese, to name a couple and likely to create more tensions through it. He is about to throw everyone into a great big pool and then let them fight it out between themselves.
Honesty and free speech is one thing, but no President or leader has ever spoken about other nations or groups of people quite like he is doing, and he will end up with a lot of enemies if he doesn't pipe down a bit. He is so rude, and dismissive of anything he is opposed to, and that is dangerous. 'Diplomacy', is not his key word, that's for sure.

Re: Trump to be the 45th USA President:your thoughts and the implications

Trump has already departed, mentally. Today he was throwing a tantrum claiming he did not mock a disabled reporter during the campaign. The instance was video taped and spread widely at the time. Even with the evidence before him, he denies it. As for the news of the Russians having something on him and using it to blackmail or manipulate him, there will no doubt be more to follow as to those claims.

To say he is rude and disgusting is being charitable.

Shadowman and Puddle...you are so right in what you say about PE Trump, but what you have to remember is it's exactly what you find so wrong and reprehensible about him is exactly what got him elected.

Re: Trump to be the 45th USA President:your thoughts and the implications

Hypothetical question -
We know that a U.S. president can only serve two consecutive terms
but, if there is a break, can one return to the office ?

Whether Trump serves full term or not, could Obama stand for pres again ? ?

Not asking whether people would favour that - just could he ?

I believe they can but can only ever serve two terms total. There is a way they can serve up to 10 years total if they are vice president and take over the presidency for the last two years of the current presidents term due to death or impeachment or something, then they can serve two full terms of their own but they don't have to be consecutive. That is what Google had to offer.

Pumice: President Obama was elected to and served two full terms. So no, per the current Constitution, he can not run again.

A president can only be elected twice. If a vice president (or any other eligible official) assumes the office of president without being elected, then he or she may serve a maximum of two years and then be elected to the presidency twice, therefore serving a total of ten years.
