Re: Where Are All Those Marchers And Celebrities?

I am not saying there won't be, but regretfully like all protests and marches the rent a mob will be the ones getting the headlines. No doubt we will see Jeremy and his girlfriend Diane standing on some steps pontificating.

I wouldn't describe the NHS protesters as 'the great unwashed'.
Neither would I nor did I.

We were talking about the "save our NHS" protest which starts by UCLH in Central London on Sat at 12pm.

Sorry to take this thread right back to the beginning, but honestly Shroppy Girl - you are so naive! Can't you see that it is much more important to complain about LGBT people being called by the right pronoun than about the mere beating and oppression of women in Islamic states. It is more important to publically honour the courage of a rich transgender publicity seeker as "Woman of the Year" than to complain about beatings, rape and murder of women in some faraway land. It is more important to complain about a few extremely well paid female executives not being paid quite as much as their male counterparts than it is to campaign against the evil cruelty meted out, for example, to Yazidi women by the mediaeval scum of DAESH.

I despair of modern day feminism (and liberalism in general) I really do!

Re: Where Are All Those Marchers And Celebrities?

another question amongst many is do we have the right on this planet to interfer with the actions in other countries - China wouldn't agree with anyone interfering with them ; Russia neither - and certainly not Trump representing USA - interfering with the Philippines president going around shooting drug users?? - interfering with North Korea - we may protest and pressure our own govts BUT how far can we go interfering with other countries especially when they are not signatories of the geneva convention??

The simple answer is that we, or rather our politicians, still regard us as being the world's policeman. On that basis we are, apparently, obliged not only to feed the world, but also to involve ourselves in the world's arguments and wars!
