I still use my Nikon Coolpix 4300 to didgiscope and take photos, 4.0 MP and although showing signs of going to camera heaven still is operational, also a 2002 model.

Re: my first digital camera (Warwick Castle)

I used to use my Voitlander Vito CL film camera up to then. I wondered what all this digital nonsense was about as everyone was talking about it. Me being careful not to spend much money initially decided to take a first few steps into the digital world with something that was relatively cheap at the time
Hence the camera in first post. I had that for some time but then realised the drawbacks that it had with it. The one main problem was for example trying to photograph birds on an island in the middle of a lake.

Oh yes i did manage it and the birds came out like dots of dust in the picture, Great!!!! That then made me realise I needed a more flexible camera that would over come this problem.

So did a lot of research and eventually got a Nikon D70s .Weyhey now up to 6 mp , dizzy heights indeed.

Now really hooked into his digital lark and the rest is history
Nikon D200 -D300 -D800 and now D810. Forgot the L26 compact kept in the car

I never had a film camera.

I only briefly had a Sony with wi-fi which was around £200 and took great pics with a wealth of editing options on it.

But I realised that I just didn't want to take photos that often so these days a phone will suffice; a top-of-the-line phone, mind you. Some phones will always take bad pictures.

I used to use a telephone to stop an Elephant stampede . I made a trunk call and reversed the charge.

Re: my first digital camera (Warwick Castle)

Remember when people used to print out/develop photos? That's something I never did but nowadays any photos I take get uploaded to Google Photos as soon as I've taken them and at the original resolution with all the metadata.
