Re: Snow on the way.

It's looking like a very mild outlook up until Christmas, periods of rain and sun but nothing remotely cold.

Lasting 2 days at the weekend, just a cold snap. For Christmas you can expect double digits C according to all the models.

Hi

Melting here like mad.

Just back from the local hospital, the river is a raging torrent, floods next.

Re: Snow on the way.

What is it with society today, Why do the authorities believe that once snowflakes start to fall, that's it! hundreds of schools closed, parents unable to go to work, angry at schools for the closure for days on end, even when the snow has stopped, is turning to slush and any danger has long passed.
When confronted about the continuing closure, teachers response? "We are not child-minders!!"

Forgive me, but that is exactly what they are, surely. Our children are in the classroom in their care, to be educated from 9 til 4. or whatever hours the schools have nowadays.

Dear Lord, back in the really bad winter of 1962-63, children still traipsed off to school every day with 6-foot drifts of snow in places. We made snowmen and had snowball fights during playtime and lunch-hour. No mollycoddling back then! it was a case of on with your coats and get some fresh air while the teachers had their morning coffee.

We really do seem to be ruled by wimps nowadays, turning our children and grandchildren into another generation of wimps.

What next? No school if it rains?

I completely agree with you Shroppy! If you want to be strong when you grow up, you need to be tough when you are young... so I don't hold much hope for the young of today when climate change causes much worse problems.

Yes, Bring back the "Off Licence" with all this climate stuff, you never know when you may get snowed in. Failing that I think we need to set up a Kanban System for the Cans.
