Re: The grave of Gelert

We had a week there at the caravan site a couple of years ago, a smashing little village surrounded by the splendour of Snowdonia, loved it there...

I remember being told this story as a small child. It doesn't really matter whether it's true or not, it's a nice, but sad, story and it should stay that way.

Re: The grave of Gelert

I've visited many times but then I do live in North Wales. It's a sad story which is told to school children, my husband remembers being told the tale in infants school and being upset at the time. Here's a couple of my photos from 2015, the first one is the path leading to the grave.

I agree with clumsy, it doesn't really matter whether it's true or not.

yes spent an hour last night looking for this photo and again today, and then comparing which black lab it was and decided it must have been our second one ..
The first had a larger white flash at the front , she looked after no/2 like it was her own pup .

Eliza, what a lovely and distinguished dog!

Mups, thank you for sharing this as I had never heard it before. Sometimes the lessons of humanity are tough ones.

True or not, aren't we the fortunate ones to share our human experience with a species that is truly more forgiving and patient than our own!
