Re: Peeky Blinders

I've been watching it, I started watching the last series too, but, I can't hear what they're saying apart from the "f" word. Can someone explain what it's about? It seems like an English Mafia family set in the Midlands!

Ah, yes. That's because they're Brummies!

They've all got funny haircuts too. Was this normal in those days? I don't know; I wasn't around in those days. Perhaps there are some here who were!

Re: Peeky Blinders

Is it set in the 20's?
I think it was the style then JBR.
I've been watching it all evening and I have no idea what it's about!

Oi! Cheeky blinder! Poink!
I had my hearing aids in and still couldn't hear it properly, especially the women!

Re: Peeky Blinders

I watched it for the first time last night ( didn't know what it was all about )
Looked it up on line .
The peeks blinders were a vicious Birmingham Gand .
You can find details on line with their mug shots .
They all seemed to be short young men probably a reflection of nutrition among the poor at that time .

Re: Peeky Blinders

It was great last night! (you've really had to watch the last two series!)
Gangland wars in Birmingham set in1920.

the Peeky Blinder bit is a bit gruesome, they have razor blades tucked in the peeks of their caps (where it folds at the front). and the cap is used with a slashing movement.
Hence Peeky blinder.
