Talking of Disasters

My off peak water heater has packed it in. I though it was cooler when I had my shower yesterday morning but this morning it was only lukewarm.

Bugger! will have to get my plumber in tomorrow too cold not to have hot water. It is about 10 years old but still...

That metal bar in front of it is the sacrificial anode I replaced about 4 years ago.

Re: Talking of Disasters

After a bit of troubleshooting I think it might just be the thermostat. The heater is 15.6 ohms which is about right for 3.5kw heater but it is open circuit on the power side of the thermostat.

I assume that's a pressurised vessel? You need to pm gasman as he might be aware of what can and cannot be tackled by yourself over there. The thermostat may well be a self servicable part.

Different regs from the UK no doubt.

It's called an unvented cylinder and it sounds like Bruce has found the answer.
