My last Holden was a HJ Kingswood with the old agricultural straight six 3.4 litre (202cu in) motor, reliable and built like a tank.
That isn't mine but that is exactly how it looked except my seats were grey. 3 speed gearbox with column shift - very torquey engine - only used first to start and second to go round corners otherwise top gear most of the time
My brother and his son were out here last year and my nephew was really taken with my son's ute. It only has the 3.6L V6 engine but it goes quite well (these utes are the Aussie sports car really).
MY nephew really wanted to get one when he returned to the UK, obviously a European version, but couldn't find one that was suitable - he reckoned they put teeny engines in utes in Europe for some reason. It is probably true I was reading that the European version of my Dmax only has something like a 1.8 or 2 litre turbo diesel which seems really odd for a vehicle weighing nearly 2 tonnes and capable of towing 3.5 tonnes.
Anyway he was really disappointed, I don't know what he ended up with.
