What is faith?

It can't be what it appears to be for some these days, surely? Causing more pain than good for some?

How do you define it?

Re: What is faith?

If You're talking about Religious faith,I don't define it..I opted out of the Catholic faith 40 years ago...The only faith I have now is in Myself and the People I love and trust.

Re: What is faith?

Fairly obvious innit?

To believe in something wholeheartedly, with all your being, however outrageous - you know - to be brainwashed.

The above is regarding 'religion' of course ; otherwise drop the rest of the sentence after 'wholeheartedly'.

Re: What is faith?

Faith is belief, I think, but how that can be twisted to mean anything you like is apparent almost every day now - sad to say.

Re: What is faith?

For me it was a realisation we all have good in us and a turning on of a light that made me realise what God wanted from me. It came late but still early enough for me to make a difference I hope. An explanation of what had happened to me personally and a realisation there was good running through it whether I could see it or not.
No brain washing involved just a lot of atheists were far surer than me there was no God so I went looking to see if I could find proof there was no God and surprised myself and everyone who knew me !
