German Election.

Angela Merkel is about to face the reality that only a third of Germans voted for her and that the AfD (Alternative for Deutschland) party made gains that the other parties could only dream of. A lot of people here call the AfD nazis with nazis ideals. It could be a very rough time ahead.

Re: German Election.

Yes a strange outcome, but not unexpected. Hopefully it will encourage Germany to find an alternative solution to the mass refugee problem and that will translate into EU changes of policy.

The big problem here is that they thought that just about everyone has a job and they've got money in their pockets and that Angie would win by a walk over. Angie's smug and she's in the pocket of big buisness. One of her other big mistakes beside the refugee problem was doing nothing about the VW diesel scandal. A lot of people have had enough of her and are looking for a new direction for Germany. Having said that I don't think the AfD is the answer.

Hi

It will be sometime before a Coalition is formed and Merkel will be far more interested in that than Brexit, not something that will help break the current stalemate.

Especially when the outgoing SPD party are telling Merkel not to accept the two-year transitional deal offered by Mrs. May.

Re: German Election.

I see that some of the German electorate are protesting against the outcome of the vote because of the rise of the AfD. What is it these days when protestors don't like the way a democratic vote goes and go on the rampage because they don't agree with the result?

The UK, then the US and now Germany all protesting the outcome of legitimate elections. Who's next?

Hitler also obtained power and legitimacy via a democratic process.

Re: German Election.

Many people are unhappy and when people are unhappy they look to point the finger of blame.. Often that has been to outsiders thus the rise of right wing groups at the present time.

Honestly when the refugee thing blew up in her face and then the VW scandel I wondered if she would survive another election but lets face it there wasnt really anyone else in the running.
