It doesn't sound like a reasonable charge to me-- I can't imagine something like this holding up if you pressed your case a bit. Don't let it ruin your Christmas, in any case!

2. You need professional advice on the legalities of this.
3. Contact your Citizen's Advice Bureau for free consultation, that's what they're there for.

Tess this must be a mistake, if you have no access to as lift, you shouldn't you have to pay to maintain it....... unless it was written in your tenancy agreement
