Re: Give up plastic for Lent
The plastic you see in the supermarket is only the half of it. So much of the loose stuff on the shelves arrives in plastic packaging but it is all recycled daily along with cardboard and paper.
The problem is what happens to it after we put it in our recycling bins. How does it get from our recycling bin to a far of beach? I have no idea how that happens. Somewhere along the line, something is going wrong.
We have a shop in town that refills your own containers but they choose to charge double the price, hence it is always empty.
I would prefer to give up plastic rather than chocolate any day although I'm not religious so I don't usually give up anything at all.
