God intervened countless times in man's affairs. He destroyed cities, murdered Egyptian men and women and all their children, he engaged in ethnic cleansing, he intervened by sending grizzly bears to maul little children because they were teasing Elisha, he destroyed all life on Earth except his favourites and so on.
Man has come no-where near the extent of murder, and care-free retribution that the God portrayed in the OT has perpetrated.
