Fortunately for my children, they are adopted...so they don't have to presume there hae ever been any hanky-panky going on.

I don't understand the need to broadcast when you had sex, especially to your children. To me it is a very private thing to be discussed between the two lovers. I am 57 years old and if my parents had talked about their sex life in front of me even in my 50s I would be mortified, its not something your kids children or adult alike need to know. I wouldn't dream of discussing my sex life with my friends never mind my children.
