Council Tax

My CT is going up 6% from April

I can't think how people on a basic state pension manage to pay it .

Re: Council Tax

Its a nightmare Muddy, we both don't work any more, my Husband will be retiring next year but I still have another 3 years to go and we are just living on our savings as we don't get any benefits at all and we do struggle at times to pay our bills.

Re: Council Tax

Ours has gone up by 6.7% this year, and they are having the cheek to charge us extra for having our garden waste bins emptied as from April!

You need to contact your local council tax office and enquire about reduction in tax on grounds of low income, Susie darlin'.

Re: Council Tax

My CT has gone up by 5.7% .....

BUT .....

that's because, while the average for all other components is 3%, the PCC have increased their by 7.3% .....

Of the whole charge, only 11% goes to my local authority, the rest goes on county services .....

Re: Council Tax

Council tax up because of, large budget cuts again. It affects those on low income the most as they have the least disposable funds.

Add in back door rises like charging too empty bins, library closures, parking costs its never ending.

Re: Council Tax

Hi

The big issue is Adult Social Services.

The country is getting older and the Government are not increasing funding to match but have allowed Councils to raise Council Tax to bridge the gap.

Those Councils who provide adult social care can increase it by up to 5.99%.
