Dickensian

Dickensian starts on Boxing day BBC 1, 2 episodes a day and there are 20 episodes in the series, I think 2 a night.
This looks good if you like great costumes of the 19th century,
the idea is that all the characters from different books are mixed up.
Well worth a watch.

Re: Dickensian

I think it looks like my worst nightmare little bits of Dickens novels all mixed up together ..

'Dickensian' is a new 20-part series where an array of Charles Dickens' characters mingle together.
Miss Haversham, Bill Sykes and Inspector Bucket from Bleak House, are just some of the 30 or so parts adapted for the small screen by writer Tony Jordan.

I will be waiting eagerly for the Andrew Davies adaptation of Tolstoy's 'War and Peace' which begins on January 3rd (the creator of Mr Darcy's wet shirt scene ) .

Re: Dickensian

20 episodes! I didnt realise it was that long...
I am looking forward to it though a bit of something different although I think most will have the idea that scenes or people are familiar and maybe that will help keep it going.

Re: Dickensian

Just Eastenders then back in the Victorian era, I definitely won't be watching as I can't abide Dickens in any shape or form... or Eastenders..

Re: Dickensian

I had to read Dickens at school, about 50 years ago
I thought it was drivel then, and still do. I've never seriously watched any film/TV adaptations or read any Dickens since, though I've caught a few exerpts by chance.

Nevertheless I hope them as do like it will enjoy it; we can't all be the same can we?

My current favourite genre for books & TV is Scandinavian thrillers, and no doubt some of you will not like those

This TV series 'Dickensian', though, is an interesting and imaginative idea; could be very good or a disaster
