No offence meant and so to move on.
Perhaps the giving of tips and findings about computers can result in some conversation. Forums are about conversations, so the passing on of tips can be good in that respect. Keep up the posts islandman.Will any tips stick or get more than a passing glance? That's what I'd question. I rather think they don't. It's perhaps only when there's a problem with the computer (or a program that runs on it) that the interest goes further than the computer usage that most are already familiar with.
Even in the case of problems, there's usually no desire to learn any more than it takes to effect a cure. How or why the action worked doesn't matter too much. The fact it did is what does. Nothing wrong with that in my opinion. It's just that people have other priorities/interests in life.
There are lots of tips I could share such as: My way of staying safe on the Internet, image optimisation and the programs that do it, vector drawing and the programs that do it, a bit about putting a website together (knowledge a bit dated now), my way of carrying out general computer care, Linux Mint installation, the programs that run on it and their usage. Probably a few other tips too.
If I were to do that, I might get some 'that's handy' remarks purely because I took the trouble to write about them. Probably some 'It's all double-dutch to me' too.
I'd guess I'd mostly have to say the information was only of interest to me.I'm always pleased to pass on anything learned about computers, programs etc if I think it is relevant to someone's thread or a problem. I'd say this is when tips and information can be worth sharing.
