Action Fraud and You and yours on BBC have just been discussing a serious phishing scam taking place at the moment .
It takes the form of an email which contains the recipient's
full name and address, it contains details about an unpaid bill from a well know company or even local councils.
The email contains a link to a bill
do not click on the link it enables the spammers to download malware and take charge of your computer locking it until you pay a ransome

In the past couple of days the Action Fraud contact centre has received thousands of calls and reports from the public who have received this clever spear phishing email below. These have worried recipients because they use detailed personal information such as full name, address and postcode.
This email has been spammed out over the past couple of weeks and could catch residents off guard. It uses a realistic domain name and claims there is a new service up and running to make it easier for you to pay your council tax bill online. If you are in doubt about any service your council provides, contact them directly.

The experts have been trying to find a link between the victims and say
it may be people with an Ebay account that is why they have full name and address including house numbers.
Ebay was hacked a while ago and data stolen.
