Indeed it has Bruce. Computers aren't the technical items they used to be, or at least they are but have been made to appear not to be. Everything happens behind the interface without the need to know anything that lies beneath.
This might irk the technically-minded a bit but then again, I suppose it's no different to watching TV without knowing anything about the miracles it takes to bring picture and sound to the speakers and screen ..or the electronic technology behind the simple act of using the remote control to get the TV to do things.
There's a lot of items we use in life like that. Technical or complicated items made easy to use without needing to know how they do whatever they are designed to do. For instance, I drive a car without too much knowledge of fuel injection or the complicated electrics/electronics that goes into cars these days.
I've got used to the term 'App(s)' now. It took some doing but having said that, I don't have any favourite ones. I've got some of what Windows 10 terms 'Apps' but that's about it.
