leafs

Just got up another 8 bags of leafs from the back garden and it still looks like it hasn't been touched. So far that is nearly 30 bags this autumn or the equivilant of 7 wheelie bins at least.
The grass looks a right mess with still twigs and leafs right across it. Even with the blower it looked like waves rolling there are so many piled up.

Still a lot more to come down as well.

Re: leafs

Can I have a couple of your bags please Speedy? I want to make some leafmold, so that's just what I am looking for.

Re: leafs

Loads of leaves down here too the storms last night brought most of them down our oak still hangs on to a few though.

Have to wait for the council to come and blow them into a heap and take them away, we had one collection in September I doubt we will see them again until February or March now. So it'll get all decayed and slippery again this year.

Re: leafs

Living in the middle of farmland I'm not bothered about the sight of the leaves everywhere. I will no doubt clear them when the trees are bare, until then it's a waste of time and energy

Re: leafs

I just cleared my front and back lawns of leaves. They all go on the compost heap and help make some lovely soil. It is a loosing battle at the moment though as they are soon replaced by more.

Re: leafs

If they are on the lawns, run the mower over them (without the box) and it will chop them into manageable pieces

Re: leafs

I used a clients tractor mower to chop them up on Friday, it also cut a bit of grass.

Re: leafs

I bag my leaves in black bin liners, punch a few holes in them and hide them away at the back of the shed, you have to wait a long time, (2 years in my case) but I did get some fantastic leaf mold.
