Sorry or Glad

Am in two minds about this.

Sorry--- that a 17 year old child dies no matter what.

Glad--- that another potential Terrorist will not be coming home.

Re: Sorry or Glad

She made her choice and went to a war zone in search of a better life, or at least something she felt was missing here in the UK, so it's not unexpected really.
Possibly she found what she was searching for. Or too late realised it did not exist there either.
I don't consider 17 to be a child.

You're right, she was .. and a gifted student studying her A-levels.
Even at 15, she sounded a bright intelligent young person.
She made a gross error of judgement and she's paid the ultimate price.
I can't say I'm sorry ... neither am I glad.

Re: Sorry or Glad

The girl has thrown away her life for an evil ideology .
I am not glad that a young life has been lost for nothing .

Re: Sorry or Glad

I dare say some may think my comment was harsh.

However, she would have been fully aware of the atrocities that IS were up to, and still decided to go and also marry an IS fighter.

Therefore, I can find no sympathy whatsoever - sorry!

Re: Sorry or Glad

I could never be glad that a life has been lost possibly more so that she was so young and seemingly quite intelligent. Very sorry for her family, i think it will be especially hard for them given the circumstances of her life over the last two years.

Re: Sorry or Glad

I think her intelligence was sadly lacking.

You do have to feel for the family though.
