She made her choice and went to a war zone in search of a better life, or at least something she felt was missing here in the UK, so it's not unexpected really.
Possibly she found what she was searching for. Or too late realised it did not exist there either.
I don't consider 17 to be a child.
She left when she was 15 sorry I did not put it better.
You're right, she was .. and a gifted student studying her A-levels.
Even at 15, she sounded a bright intelligent young person.
She made a gross error of judgement and she's paid the ultimate price.
I can't say I'm sorry ... neither am I glad.
I could never be glad that a life has been lost possibly more so that she was so young and seemingly quite intelligent. Very sorry for her family, i think it will be especially hard for them given the circumstances of her life over the last two years.
