First go to a Mctimoney chiropractor to make sure nothing's out.

Then Pilates is excellent.
The pelvic tilt and back curls are great for loosening a stiff back.

I agree with ruthio. McTimoney first, else you might do further damage trying to exercise.

Personally I like Yoga, but they are both good. Get your back put right first though.

Re: lower back pain

Been to Dr and have 'easy' stretching exercises to do and given Naproxen tablets. Feels a little better now but taken on board your suggestions. Thanks

Glad you're feeling a bit better GPapa.
Take it easy and see how things go.

Re: lower back pain

I have been using a series of rowing machines over forty years. Works for me, having hurt my lower spine at grammar school. Recommended by a sports physio.

Re: lower back pain

I must do stretching exercises everyday and walking helps.
I find sitting a lot is the worst thing.

Just recently I went to a Health store and they recommended Theracurmin tablets. I will try that for awhile.
Other than that I find ibuprofen works the best. but I don't like taking that too often.

For any sort of back or neck pain you will not find anything better than a back massager:

Downside is you will need someone to man it.
