If I may answer this too?

No plans had been made on either sides of the debate - Cameron in his arrogance assumed that it would be business as usual so no plan for staying in the EU was necessary.

No plans were made in case of a pro-Brexit result because the pro-Brexit voters (me included) were not expected to win. Cameron must have got the biggest shock of his life after the result, that's why he did a runner as soon as he was able because his hubris came to bite him on his arse.

It wasn't just a shock for Cameron, it was a shock for gove and BJ.

The vote was for two scenarios - do nothing vs change. We didn't need a plan for business as usual.

Didn't Cameron say that if the vote was to leave he would resign? He kept his word, he resigned. Why is it all his fault?

Because he should have stayed to set the process of leaving in motion.

Re: The fall in the £

It's nothing to do with his flailing political career. As a leader you do not give the nation a vote for a complete change unless you have planned every step of what to do if that vote wins. You don't turn around as Darling did back in 2009 or whenever and say "there is no money" or in this case "there is no plan". It's unacceptable for a person in such a responsible position to make such a gruesome error in judgement. It was extremely poor leadership, but then of no surprise after all look what he allowed lansley to do to the NHS.

Au contraire. If the vote had gone the other way, i.e. 52% in favour of remaining in the EU, the result could have been seen as a reason for the government to revisit the conditions for EU membership

Maybe
But that would have been a stronger negotiating foothold than nothing

Re: The fall in the £

One would hope that the strength of feeling would have pushed the government to renegotiate the terms and to push for a stronger seat at the euro table and a bigger profile for the UK. But as Cameron didn't get along with anyone anywhere I can't imagine it happening unless he stepped down.
