Should Have Been A Hit!

This may have been discussed before, but how many songs have passed by without much fanfare and you've wondered why it didn't do more?...I'm Still Waiting[Patti Labelle And The Blubelles-beautiful song written by Curtis Mayfield]..Never Could You Be[The Impressions-cool upbeat soul sound]..Without A Doubt[Major Lance-maybe the major's best song on the Okeh label]..Alone With No Love[The Contemplations-did nothing when released but a classic today]..You're The One[The Marvelettes-Motown didn't push this one hard enough].

And also groups and artists who never got the recognition they deserved. My favourite of all time - Bread. Great tunes and lyrics. Worth a listen. Something for every mood.

Bread did well in Australia. I remember way back when listening to them on the radio.

Re: Should Have Been A Hit!

I think when you look back a lot of it had to do with the radio stations as well as the record companies. If they didn't play you yoü didn't get recognised. I saw an interview with George Benson where he spoke about the politics of music in the early days and if you were black and were on the wrong label it was tough edpecially if there was a lot of new white music around.

His words, not mine.

Don't look back by Boston, the album and the single. I'm not sure how high Don't look back reached in the UK singles charts but they are known more for More than a feeling.

Also Hold the line by Toto. They are known more for Africa.
