A new and serious problem

Hi

Liam Fox's plan has just been scuppered.

He told the Conference that he would have Trade Deals lined up for the day we leave.

His plan was to do a thing called Technical Rectification for all the existing Trade Deals we have as part of the EU.

A whole list of Countries have objected to this at the WTO.

https://www.neweurope.eu/article/eu-...ltural-quotas/

The countries objecting include those who he was saying we would be having a full Free Trade Deal with, the USA, Canada and New Zealand.

This is really not good news.

Hi

We have a load of Trade Deals as a result of being in the EU for 40 years.

All Trade Deals include Quotas, so for example, the EU would take 50,000 tons of New Zealand lamb or American or Canadian wheat etc.

Now we are leaving our share of this has to be agreed and split off.

Liam Fox decided to do this by Technical Rectification, which is basically the UK deciding how much of each quota it will take and registering this at the WTO.

There are literally thousands of these quotas.

Liam Fox decided to do this without agreeing anything with the Countries affected.

They have now objected, which they are entitled to do, to the WTO.

This stops the process.

Thank you for the explanation swim. Seems fair then he's made a mistake assuming consent where there was none. I'm beginning to think we need to walk away from the mess and just go to wto rules that seems easier if they are bungling the discussions.

In other words he's a lazy git who thought he could get away with short cuts without doing any decent work and clearly didn't do much research - a typical scumbag 'nasty party' member!!!

Why not face the fact that this country is going down the tubes faster than diarrhoea and there is nothing we can do about it?

It's still an exciting time IMO all this will be over soon and we are then free to make the country what we want. Our kids and grandkids will step up and be able to make a difference without this huge stone around their necks.

It won't be very exciting when unemployment starts to rise as it will quite soon.
