Surely you prefer this? A song of a girl bidding her love farewell as he went to fight for Mother Russia during WWII. Not that she would ever see him again given that with his poor strategic decisions, Stalin treated the Red army as cannon fodder and expendable.

I know the song very well Annie darlin' and have even danced the Kazachok to it on a number of occasions during my sojourns in the USSR.

Where did you go in the USSR? I believe travel was quite restricted. Even if you were on official business. It's not even that easy to travel around now. Or that safe.

Moscow (three times), Leningrad (twice) Novgorod, Kharbarovsk, Omsk, Irkutsk, & Bratsk.
