Yemens dirty war

the attached article claims that understanding the fighting in Yemen is not a straight forward issue of sunni versus shiite - and to some extent there is some truth in that - there are many many factions of both sunni and shiite as there are christian groups splitting from the CE and RC.

however it is also plainly a sunni and shiite split if you dissect the players [fighters] the Saudis and pals form the Sunni branch and are supporting the elected govt of Yemen whilst Iran [shiite] are supporting the shiite rebels who are attempting to take over the country by a process of civil war rather like Oliver Cromwell and his sturdy men!

so once again the muslims are fighting each other and dreadfully as thousands of children are killed in the process - and this can flare up anywhere in the world were there is this polarization of muslim groups, who incidentally once lived at peace with one another.

the really scary and complex turn of events is that sometimes and often the west is dragged into these skirmishes as we were in Syria. we seem to have largely left Yemen alone apart from providing weaponary to the Saudis.

Re: Yemens dirty war

Where have you been ,sunshine ?

The West instigated the war in Syria, under pretence civil war.
It still goes on .... as an attempt for Regime change. Assad was voted in by the electorate, therefore it is not a Regime ! That's a word used by the West to give their cause more impetus.
The West invaded Iraq... millions dead and homeless. Infrastructure in tatters.
Saudi and US are pals, along with the UK. Do you really believe that the West are not backing this Yemeni war ? They just ask the unsuspecting to give donations and funds to UNICEF, Save the Children etc. and NGO's that are in it up to their eyes.

Human loss of life matters not to them. So long as the end result is as planned. Bush first hit on the word 'muslim' as a dirty word. The man who thought Wales was a little town in England.
Prior to year 2000 did you ever hear about Muslims or Islam being trouble ? In fact did you every hear about them at all, apart from Al Qaeda ? Well guess what, US back Al Qaeda in Syria, along with the FSA and Al Nusra as a means of overthrowing Assad and saving the US troops from putting boots on the ground. So it just shows how devious they are and how, at the moment ,they are plotting another chemical weapon attack , whilst their naval war ships take position once more off the coast of Syria. They'll be ready to blame the Syrians who are backed by Iranians, which will give them a good excuse to yet again bomb Syria, because it has already been threatened and Israel are the root cause and want Iran out of Syria. What has it got to do with them who supports Syria. Had they not thought they could get away with a regime change by default in the first instance, by causing unrest and so called civil war in Syria, Russia and Iran would have not been asked to assist Assad. Those countries were invited, none of the other countries have been invited into Syria's so called 'civil war' ! So have US, UK, France, Turkey, declared war on Syria, because if not what are they doing there ?
Yemen is part of the whole complex situation and how has it taken so long for anyone to intervene ? Bring a country to it's knees and then act out the part of the ' Saviour'.

Look for the words 'oil' and 'gas' and 'water' in those regions and you will find your answers of who wants control. It might be Muslim against Muslim in your eyes , but no different to Irish against Irish it just depends on which political party you belong to .

Nothing changes in the Yemen, it was the same mobs murdering each other in the 60s, FLOSY and the NLF, and it had nothing to do with oil, water, Saudi Arabia, America or the flowerpot men, just your usual religious war between factions wanting to rule after they kicked the Brits out.
So blaming the West for ALL the ills of the planet is pathetic, the Arab is quite willing and happy to inflict pain, death and destruction on anyone including themselves without the intervention of the West. Read some history

Totally agree Rehab,

Muslims have always been pretty good at fighting amongst themselves. They just can't help it.

Re: Yemens dirty war

it is hard to believe sometimes that sunnis and shiites once lived in peace together although differing on doctrinal views. Read about the golden years of Baghdad [ just google - should still be there] when every religion known to man survived there peacefully. It was prosperous ; learned and rich! hard to imagine as you see it now.

People may have differing views of 'God' but it is usual 'disadvantage' 'poverty' [as in Gaza] that eventually causes them to strike. there are of course the outliers like El Queda and ISIS - but these phenomena occur throughout history and are often caused to blossom through errors of the West!

Yemen may be a 'sh..hole' but thousands and thousands of children have died from disease; starvation and bullets - I wouldn't call them a nasty word?

Well the Yemen has been a sh*thole for some time now so perhaps having fewer children would help the situation.

Of course it is terrible when children are dying in these countries, I'm sure no one would say otherwise but the west cannot be expected to sort out every Country who's adults have a camel pat where their brain should be.

There might be far less bloodshed if 'we' didn't keep supplying them with the highly sophisticated weaponry capable of killing people in ever larger numbers at the mere flick of a switch.
