new plants to go in

Just had a nice pub meal and then off to the garden centre. Sue splashed the cash and got a Cytisus (Boskoop Ruby) and a Callistemon ( bottle brush) plant to fill in the space left from the removal of the bush

Area needs tidying first

Hope they grow well for you, personally love those bottle brush trees. Someone down the road has a huge one.

Saw this exchange and bought a bottle brush plant couple of months ago... it's just beginning to flower, fabulous colour!!
Thanks for the inspiration on here, I'd never heard of it before.

Ours had a bad start with extreme dry weather which nearly killed it, still got brown tips from that time but now seems to be picking up, so fingers crossed

Oh dear, maybe its me or maybe its the cold in Yorkshire but I tried with two Bottle Brush plants... they both died.

It was at my last house though and the soil was very clay like... whatever the reason I gave up trying to grow them. Hope you have better luck than me

Re: new plants to go in

I think they like more of a light soil Tess. I bought at the begining of the year a Bright pink perennial salvia. It is flowering now and the garden centre lady told me if I cut it right back after flowering I will get another flush of flowers later in the year. It looks like this:
