Re: Should horse riders be allowed on roads?

I thought that pretending to be a police officer was illegal, the use of the bib for example certainly gives the impression that it is, at a quick glance, a police officer.

There's plenty more examples flying around such as

`Polite Notice` Do not park here usually put up outside someone's home.

I think it's the high-vis jacket with blue and white check flashing and the wording that misleads... if this picture accurately depicts what they're wearing.

The police are happy to have their webcam footage though to help prosecute drivers.

@Judd

True, but a yellow bib, with the blue and white crosshatch and the addition of a body camera ?

Aye, that's milking it a bit but if it does the trick, why not.

Re: Should horse riders be allowed on roads?

It should be cars that are banned from country roads not horses.....
When it comes down to it it's give and take. When I'm driving on country roads round here I drive as if I expect to see a horse around every bend. Are a couple of minutes added to your journey worth more than a riders life. And it's not just horses the unwary driver might encounter on country roads, slow moving tractors and cattle are also among regular hazards.

Speeding drivers and fly tippers and are the main problem on country roads and should have their vehicles confiscated and scrapped.

Hi

They should not be allowed on the road without compulsory insurance.

It should be made a criminal offence not to have it.

Good grief, a post that I can actually believe and agree with.

I'm guessing that most responsible horse riders do take out insurance.

Re: Should horse riders be allowed on roads?

I realise there isn't the money around nowadays to do such things but surely something could be done to make it safer for horse riders as they have done for cyclists. But i suppose they should spend any spare cash on filling in the pot holes.
