Invalid IP Configuration

My laptop won't connect to the Internet.

when I run the Network Adapter trouble shooting it says wifi doesn't have a valid ip configuration.

I then run Internet connection trouble shoot and it gives me the same message.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

You might already have tried but have you restarted the computer? Not shut down and turned back on but use the 'Restart' option. That has worked for some with this problem.

I tried to no avail but, it's now ok.

I did a configuration reset/restore.

Well I tried. Thinking about it though, our neighbour knocks on my door when his computer goes wrong and I usually manage to get it working. He gives me a bottle of wine after each fix. That should be an incentive but I'm a beer drinker.
