Isle of Wight

Anyone interested in visiting the island could benefit from subscribing to The Price is Wight website, which offers special deals on various things going on here. At the moment there's a good deal offered on a short caravan break.

Re: Isle of Wight

Just registered.

A lot of people on the mainland complain about potholes in the roads. Over here, Island Roads has a long term contract to re-surface the roads. Most potholes remaining are on some A roads and mainly B roads.
The island used to have the worst roads in the kingdom, but now it is a pleasure to drive from Ryde to all parts.

I'm hoping it WILL be a pleasure to drive around the island, but right now Island Roads seem to be digging up most of the roads. Shanklin has a huge one-way system and the road through Brading is total chaos!

Re: Isle of Wight

The island is gorgeous.....I care not about potholes.....though the traffic did sometimes drive me mad on the odd occasion we had a car.

Visiting by and staying on a boat was a joy, Alum Bay being a favourite anchorage......love the place.

Its one of the very few places in the UK I'd consider retiring too.

There were warnings given. There are other ways? IR are not digging up most of the Island - exaggeration methinks.

Re: Isle of Wight

We were there last year , didn't notice how bad the roads were so they can't have been too bad, thoroughly enjoyed our holiday , would've gone this year but we don't want to get tired of it, so Cornwall for us this year, but maybe iow next year

Quite right! Use the train! It's as good as an adventure park thrill ride but much cheaper!

"but now it is a pleasure to drive from Ryde to all parts."
Absolutely NOT "all parts".......Exaggeration methinks!
