I do not buy from the larger Garden Centres, plenty of very small family run ones round here and Shropshire prices are very good.

How about these Swims? Fancy some of these?

Re: Plants from Supermarkets

Our local Morrisons have some great bedding plants . They are half the price of ones in the garden centres and just as good .
A few years ago I bought a 5 foot Rowan tree for £5 , it's a lovely healthy tree .

Hi

I would love some of those Mups, I have purple ones, but not black.

I have a couple of new ones I am trying this year, pineapple and strawberry tomatoes.

You are a bit more adventurous than me than Swims.

Do you mean pineapple and strawberry flavoured?
Let me know what they're like later on.

Re: Plants from Supermarkets

I saw a lemon flavoured cucumber plant when I was in Pickering the other day, I didn't buy it because it was a hot sunny day and I had a long drive home so thought I would get one locally.. Kicking myself now because I went to my local garden centre and they have never even heard of them

I must admit I'm a bit of an old fuddy duddy with these newer fruit and veg's.
I don't think I fancy white strawberries, purple carrots or black tomatoes.
Boring old wotsit, aren't I.

Re: Plants from Supermarkets

Not sure what to say-my `hobby business` fell flat some years ago now. Folks stopped looking for us tiny people in favour of larger and larger garden centres and yes now supermarkets.

I once offered 25 types of tomato-but never `Money Maker` Red,Pink,Black or just Green Zebra.

Hi

Carrots were never orange at first Mups, they were purple, yellow or white.

Re: Plants from Supermarkets

I will often buy plants from Sainsbury's when they first come in, after that nobody waters them and they look half dead.
Why do stores sell plants if they can't arrange for someone to water them
