they hate the bath

Do your dogs hate the bath (or water) Benny, my old beagle hated the bath , no , he hated water and considered it evil nasty stuff to be avoided unless for drinking.

With Murphy I have to look at him evey now and then just to make sure he has paws not flippers because he is an absolute water rat and never misses the chance to be in the water..

We got a little kids pool for the garden and he loves it..In fact he sits by the door and whines so he can go out and jump in the water!

So do you have water babies or water phobes?

I have 4 dogs. Only 1 will swim but they all hate being washed and I'm shamed to admit I don't bother washing them.

Re: they hate the bath

I think Benny was only ever bathed 3 or 4 times in his whole 15 years It's not something I do unless it's absolutely necessary.
With Murphy I don't even have to ask he will jump and swim in anything deeper than a saucer

Elsie loves water it's hard to keep her out of it, sadly she also loves rolling in bare dirt making a sort of mud bath. Consequently not often we don't end up popping her in the shower when we get home !

Betty however even hates drinking the stuff, should have seen her face couple of years ago when she got accidentally knocked into the canal ! She has a bath in the kitchen sink whenever she needs one, last one was two weekends ago when she rolled on a dead snail, the smell of rot was eye watering so in the sink she went. Time before was March when she had her vaccination as our vet has been known to tell people off if they present a dirty or smelly dog to him.

That first picture's a beaut! Looks like he's floating in the air.

One of ours loves water, the other hates it.
Neither like being bathed.
We give them baths when needed.
Apparently I need one at the same time!

Re: they hate the bath

Cass, your young Murphy certainly is a character isn't he. Good pics.

My lot don't moult, so have to be bathed before I clip them approx every 6 or 8 weeks. I shower them, not bath. As soon as I start taking collars off, they twig, and disappear and become masters of invisibility. I then have to re-capture them one at a time and cart them off to the shower.

The oldest one won't even step in a puddle, let alone swim.

My husband does Elsie, he's got he touch, he takes a handful of treats and she's happy to follow him anywhere

Betty is more of a challenge and has been known to hide behind the sofa or washing machine to avoid me catching her

Re: they hate the bath

Chloe doesn't have an all over bath very often but when she does she appears to enjoy it

She does have her legs washed every day after almost every walk (in a bowl in the garage) because she is usually covered in mud. She doesn't mind that either .

Re: they hate the bath

Funny aren't they.. They know when the towels come out and the collars come off its time to hide, Benny used to run if we even said the word bath..

Remy was too daft to run and Oscar loved it just like Murphy.
But our old battersea rescue Sheba was a real diva she not only enjoyed the bath but she loved to be blow dried as well.. I only did it once a year when she entered the local scruffs contest where she would prance around on tiptoe like some little filmstar..
