Re: Living in Space

There are some disturbing facts about the future. We all know the population will grow to huge levels quite quickly and probably be unsustainable at some point.

Consider these facts - or forecasts for the year 2050. It is a short video so don't worry. The most worrying of all for me is the amount of food needed to be produced, which seems out of proportion to the gain in population (up by 2.5 billion) - a whopping 70% extra! Not sure these figures are in any way accurate - with regard to food anyway - but even so.

Re: Living in Space

Perhaps the solution can be found a bit closer to home.
Instead of travelling thousands of light years through space looking for a world that will sustain life why don't we create one here.

Why not alter the environment on the Moon. Build massive greenhouses and grow stuff, after all, one side of the Moon is always in the sunshine....That's assuming that we ever got to the Moon.....

The population problem is going to need to be addressed though....

Re: Living in Space

We have vast areas on earth that could be irrigated and used before going into space surely? We have humanitarian crisis in areas such as Yemen and Somalia and others due to the environment maybe we should concentrate on those first.
