Bees shortage

Is it just me, or are there hardly any bees around nowadays? Their absence means I'll have to make the effort of pollinating my own miniscule crop.

Re: Bees shortage

They're all in my garden!
I have noticed dead bees especially small bumble types in the lanes when I've been out, that was from before the heat, so it not that.

Can you grab hold of a few and send them up here?

Re: Bees shortage

Plenty of bees here the ceanothus has been covered.
The lavender bed is coming into bloom , that is usually covered too just in time for the bees to pop across the garden and pollinate the runner beans

Dex, did you read the thread on orange petunias?

Might be part to do with your bees?

Re: Bees shortage

Loads of them here. But it`s just a garden. Pests and neonics are killing them when it comes to big scale.

Re: Bees shortage

ever since I complained of no bees, I have been seeing them every day around my lupins. I hope they like sweetpeas and Oleanders too. They are about to open.

Domestic gardens are really important to bees. There are so many of them around the country. We can save them en masse by having the right flowers in every garden.

Re: Bees shortage

Very few here including bumbles and honey ones, the honey one is surprising given that there is a honey farm not far away.

Re: Bees shortage

Not too many bees in my garden at the moment but my garden is in it's first year so hope to see more next year. I have planted Lavatera and buddleia to attract them.
