But Tracy Emin is an artist who deserves better critique than people demeaning her and the "unmade bed"
She is a woman from a working class, very difficult, underprivileged background who has had to learn to "speak" Art
You should take time to read her annotations in her sketchbooks..there you see the relentess quest, the vulnerability, the passion, the obsession, the sheer bloody mindedness of a very normal (despite evetything), young(ish) woman. I admire her guts and she is not without talent and huge statements.
Unfortunately, the traditional stuff doesn't always sell; there are some superb artists out there that are never mentioned.
To be famous in anything, you have to make an impact.
I will take your advice and look into some of her other work.

So this is where you are all hanging out, mention 'Nudes' and the thread goes on longer than 'War and Peace'.....
However, I reckon that if someone has used their skill and observation to capture the Nude form, then to me it's art. But some photography can also be described as art, it is still a skill to to capture the mood and good lighting. Anyone can take snaps, but it takes someone with an eye for a good composition to make art from a photograph.
Some examples of paintings or Sculptures excite me, but I suppose it's a fine line between suttle porn (not explicit) and art. If you are moved in any way by looking at a piece of art then the artist has accomplished what they set out to do, it is a gift that only a select few posses....
