Very true, eccles, some of it was really awful. I think the 80's music was bad though.....think I like a bit from each decade and classical in between.
The 1960s had their fair share of rubbish music - bubblegum infantile stuff with daft dance moves. I don't think today's music is any worse on the whole, although I've not heard of most of the chart topper singers as I never listen to "pop" on the radio. Some stuff's quite sophisticated compared to 50 years ago, but I can't stand the pseudo-porn videos that accompany them. If a song is really good then does it really need simulated sex and half naked men and women to big it up? At least the Beatles kept their kit on!
Don't agree re- 60s music, there was so much choice !
True Julie but, we have never had a decade with such diverse 'good' music as in the 60s. All tastes catered for - I'm sticking to that ! I wont be swayed
Well pop is supposed to appeal to the young I believe so it's not odd we find it hard to relate to todays offerings. We have benefit of our memories so have the best of it I think.
Today's music is horrible. I have listened to top 40 stuff like Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Justin Timberlake. Rubbish music. The 60's and 70's were much better.

Now theres my kinda post - sharp memory there Grumpy
In answer to your original question Jim matey, in the words of Paul Daniels "Not a lot". I'm a real 'square' and prefer classical music to anything in the later 20th Century.
