YIPPPEE got it right. it is the positive end of an AA battery. Not so hard once you know is it?

So now we have an idea of how this "what is it thread" works, do you want me to do another or forget the whole project?

It does take some setting up as in the original photo and quite a bit of time finding objects to photograph.

If anyone else wants to post along the same lines then please say so. Before there were members posting in the middle of another photo and cross threads got confusing. So if anyone wants to step in then when one picture puzzle is ending then stake a space claim.

Re: Who remembers the "what is it" thread

Speaking personally I have no objections whatsoever to you posting another object. As has been suggested it does seem as if the equipment and knowledge required can be daunting. perhaps if your goodself and maybe a couple of equally knowledgeable posters would like to continue the thread I am sure the rest of us would be happy to keep on guessing. 👍

Tezza

Having the equipment does make it a bit easier but it can be done without. All it really needs is a camera and a 1:1 ratio macro lens and an editing suit. The hard part in that case is keeping the camera still enough .

So lets have a go at this

Looks like some sort of electrical socket.

By the way, thanks for reviving this. I used to enjoy guessing them.

It's the bit of a socket where the top prong of a 3 prong plug goes.
