Paint

In our quest to redecorate we are off out tomorrow to buy paint. Haven't decorated in many years so wondered which brands are considered good these days. Getting a decent paint can make a horrible job a bit easier to do I always think.

Re: Paint

Do you have a 'B&M' store near you? They have a range at reasonable prices...

We are magnolia(ing) the living room so tool station sounds good. No BM stores here but there is one near our caravan site so might have a look in there too. Grace us after bubblegum pink ! For her room
Tartan sound good though

Does it come with a long stand to put it on ?

Re: Paint

I always loved using Crown, but most places seem to sell Dulux now.
Someone told me Johnston was good.

I've never been able to use gloss paint. Makes me poorly, so for years I've used the water based one for woodwork. They were hard to use, as they dry quite rapidly, and the finish wasn't as good as gloss.

They are even worse now

Edited.... just seen the tartan paint video

Re: Paint

I find acrylic gloss is less smelly, although the white does go yellowy after some time.

Re: Paint

I still find Dulux or crown to be better than any of the cheap stuff (and I've tried it all). You just end up with a more lasting finish without having to put several layers on. You get what you pay for I guess.

Re: Paint

I quite like Valspar.
I did my bathroom with their primer and emulsion in one and it was quite creamy and thick, went on a dream with no drips and lovely to paint with. It didn't even go gunky and collect in the bristles as some paint can do. Not too smelly and the smell didn't linger long either.
B&Q can mix the colour you want in-store. I took a facecloth for my colour match and they did it exact.
It claimed one coat is enough and it did look enough but I did two anyway.
It's scrubbable rather than just washable too and wipes down lovely.
