Wood Sap.

Where my wife works there aren't too many options but to park her car underneath trees. As a result there's now wood sap on the windscreen. Does anyone know how to remove it without having to use strong chemicals. Any help will be much appreciated.

You could try 'White Spirit' Kev, it smells a bit but soon evaporates and doesn't leave anything behind. It's a good de-greaser also.

Wouldn't use white spirit, try methylated spirit, or you can buy an automotive tree sap remover try your local branch of halfords

Re: Wood Sap.

Won't soap and water work? I have had to park under gum trees and the car is completely covered in spots of eucalyptus oil, it certainly doesn't do the paintwork any good but a good wash in detergent gets it off.

I agree Bruce I have to park under trees too sap all over plus birds love that particular tree so bird poop too. Liquid soap and hot water and a brush or sponge get it off. I tend to only do mine before its service do it's always a surprise what colour the car actually is.

Re: Wood Sap.

Thankyou all for your replies. I've tried soap and water Bruce but as I should have said, it's pine sap and soap and water has no effect. I'll have to set myself up like the mad scientist and experiment. Once again, thanks. I'll lt you know what the result is.

Liquid soap as in soap flakes diluted. I'm not a fan of car shampoo it makes my hands flair up so I use soap flakes for many jobs, I also use tooth paste on my head lights that works well and smells nice and minty too.
