Today is the day.

The glorious 12th, when thousands of brave souls indulge in the mass slaughter of Grouse and the odd protected bird of prey in the name of sport.

Armed only with shotgun, beaters,, and dogs they will engage with humanities nemesis to rid our skies of these destructive predators.

Wanted.

It's horrible, beautiful birds bred and killed for sport.
I hope they get their revenge one day!

All "sports" that involve killing innocent animals and birds should be banned.
They are all barbaric.

I shoot, but can't afford the fees for the meets anymore.
Lambs are very cute, I don't kill them, but like some of you I eat them
Calves are very cute, I don't kill them, but like some of you I eat them
Some of you eat chickens bred in factories...some of you eat turkeys, ugly buggers who are killed just for Christmas
If some of the posters on the outrage bus here are true ethical vegans I could understand theur 'argument' ..the rest of you? Hypocrites!

Tell me about it....sigh. They've been at it most of the morning up here. What is it with humans that makes them want to kill most things that move.

I think it's the 'sport' bit Rehab that a lot of people object to.

Re: Today is the day.

Does it matter to the bird whether it's killed on the wing or in a factory farm? I suspect the grouse has a slightly better chance.

Which would people prefer to eat..a brace of grouse taken on the wing or those bred in a in the same conditions of chickens?

No, I suppose it doesn't matter to the bird as such, if it's dead, it's dead. What I am saying (without having a go at you personally) is that people might see hunting as a bit of a macho thing, a bit of power over a defenceless animal. I don't agree with farmed animals either.
