Staircase Tax

Can you credit it?

Some 30.000 businesses in the UK could be in line for back dated staircase tax.
This means that bossiness occupying several floors, will now be taxed for each floor on their premises.

Once again the government is penalizing businesses instead of helping them.
In fact they should reduce this tax,not increase it.

Maybe houses with staircases are next inline?

Have you got a link to that news item Azure?
I wanna read it as it sounds quite far fetched.

Re: Staircase Tax

Depends if you have a good advisor, a loophole could lead to a "Stairway to Tax Haven".

A stairway to heaven would be just fine.

Re: Staircase Tax

Why not?
I got a bill for maintaining and servicing my lift!
I also live in a bungalow, which someone mistook for a block of flats!
Bring back the window tax!

Re: Staircase Tax

Hi

Staircase Tax

The change sees businesses on different floors in a mixed-use building being charged as two separate premises.

It is a technical change to close a loophole used by some which has affected others.
