Chronic Wound.

After a visit to diabetic podiatry today they have diagnosed my wound that will not repair., as a chronic wound.

A chronic wound is a wound that does not heal in an orderly set of stages and in a predictable amount of time the way most wounds do; wounds that do not heal within three months are often considered chronic. Chronic wounds seem to be detained in one or more of the phases of wound healing.

This started in May 2015 after a first toe amputation so 29 months ago, for the past 18 months ive been arguing with the non progress of my healing, so why have i had to wait for other treatment. Yes cost of course, they gave me a test today and started treatment but it will be next week before they have a clue.

Apparently in these cases your own body's defences conspire against you, how much money and time have they wasted giving the wrong treatment.

Re: Chronic Wound.

Nom I agree with you on this. A chronic wound should have been diagnosed a long time ago!

I know you care about other sick people, but I think it is time to put your own needs first and make constant demands of you doctor until they get things right.

Good luck with the new care.

Re: Chronic Wound.

I feel so cross for you Nom.

According to what you say, your 'chronic wound' should have been given that diagnosis by August 2015 - exactly 2 years ago !!!

Shameful category of events.

And here's one for you my friend.

Re: Chronic Wound.

That is terrible. I agree that the body should be given the time to try to heal itself , BUT TWO YEARS!!!. That is outrageous.

My goodness that's a terrible lapse of care, I hope all goes well for you from now though.
