Bake off

Nice to see this back as Summer is winding down. Tonight it's making me really yearn for some yummy cake.

I wonder what happens to all the cakes they bake. Far too much for them to eat.

Re: Bake off

Was it any good? The show has been received fairly well on Twitter and it showed a cake in the shape of a water melon which looked very good. May have to watch the repeat.

Re: Bake off

The cakes were fabulous and covered with chocolate, but not quite Bake off without Mary Berry.

Re: Bake off

It will take some getting used to after Mary Berry but I'll give it a try

Re: Bake off

The programme was ok but lost a bit of its sparkle for me without the usual hosts and Mary Berry.

I found the advertisement breaks irritating , if I watch it again I will record it

Re: Bake off

Well I got round to watching a recording of the show (FF passed Ads) and I don't think it was as bad as some have painted. The BLT sandwich cake was brilliant and a deserved winner. The pile of pancakes cake was very good too - it put a sceptical Paul Hollywood in his place.

Re: Bake off

I'm not too unhappy with it but I can't see it lasting like the BBC version it just isn't the same without Mel sue and Mary, I thought sandi was quite out of place, having met her a few years ago she wasn't very good with an audience IMO so I doubt she's going to be as good with upset contestants as mel and Sue.

Re: Bake off

Never got on with Bake Off.

Far too scripted and totally fake. Contestants deliberately dropping trays of cakes/cookies on the floor for entertainment value, flinging bread dough around the room etc. Pretty peurile. Dumbed down TV for a dumbed down populous.

Also never really liked Maz Bez with her boufant hair do and "sloane ranger" style clothing. Hollywood equally a bit of a prat. Too long in the tooth, old school baker who really can only see one way of doing things where bread making is concerned.

Went the way of all "reality" TV. Handpicked contestants, a bit of eye candy, the token gay boy, the older one, ethnic one etc etc. The formula gets so old TBH.

Re: Bake off

I don't think Noel was a good choice for his show, two ridiculous things and only a couple of episodes in, simulating anal sex with Paul, and now sandi shutting him in a fridge ! It's a family show we all watch it, thankfully grace saw the fridge bit and shouted what an idiot don't they know how dangerous that is. So I am relieved she won't be following their lead but kids do lose their lives in fridges it's not something to joke about.

Re: Bake off

Love the new series, I think they're all good on it too. It was puddings last night, I am now yearning for a steamed sponge pudding lol. The only thing I don't like is the adverts in between, but hey ho that's channel 4 for you. But hat aside everything stops when that comes on.
