Diane Abbott

I see that Diane Abbott has been getting a lot of personal abuse. This is totally unfair and is to be deplored.

Although I am against almost everthing she stands for, I defend her right to say it. Anyone who becomes an MP has earned the right to be treated with respect. They have given up a normal life to serve the public and for this they should be praised.

Re: Diane Abbott

Sorry I don't agree that if you become am MP you deserve respect or that you give up your life to become one not in the least. I haven't seen the abuse directed at Ms Abbott but I have no respect for her as an MP.

Any relation to Tony? (Our ex PM)

One of life's disappointments was that Treasurer Peter Costello left parliament so that we didn't have a government led by Abbott and Costello.

Hi

If Diane Abbott wants respect she should treat others with respect.

Re: Diane Abbott

I agree old supporter, no one deserves the level of abuse she gets, I don't like her I don't like her views but that doesn't mean I can abuse her.

Then when she reports the abuse she gets told off on tv for using that language. I can't imagine what she goes through each day and I can see why she believes what she does getting so much racial abuse it must feel like everyone is racist !

Re: Diane Abbott

Do we teach people to respect us by being disrespectful to them ? I think not. I tend to show respect and get it back in spades.

Re: Diane Abbott

I agree - she shouldn't get abuse for things she cannot help - being a woman, being black etc. Her opinions, however, like those of us all, are fair game and I regularly criticise her anti-white racism and her hypocrisy.
