Uber loses London Licence

Uber have been denied a licence in London.
The black cab industry are delighted.
There are concerns about the backgrounds of the drivers and they undercut the black cabs i supose.

Never really understood how Uber works to be honest, seems to me any dodgy old driver could turn up.

Re: Uber loses London Licence

The thing people liked about Uber was that you could download their App and simply log on and see where all the cars were and book online the nearest taxi to your location.
Also you'd get the name of the driver and a fixed price, so none of the sitting in the back and watching the meter rack the cost up and up...

But the traditional London cabbies were getting undercut.

Not sure whether they still have to learn the Knowledge.
The Uber drivers don't, they just use satnav.

Re: Uber loses London Licence

Has pressure been brought to bear by the Black Cab companies?

Or to put it another way, has someone been bunged?

They think it's likely to be overturned on appeal.
